The RISE Regional Educator Externship Program connects educators with local industries through an immersive, hands-on experience. By embedding educators within manufacturing and logistics companies, the program provides a unique opportunity for educators to gain a deeper understanding of high-demand careers in the region.
Educators are selected from the eight-county school system and have the opportunity to experience firsthand how various industries operate, explore technology and understand the specific skills employers are seeking. The program’s goal is to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world career pathways. By gaining practical industry insights, educators can return to their schools equipped to better prepare students for the workforce.

“I think all educators should experience an externship like this because we are the bridge. Having this experience allows us to gain more knowledge to share all the different opportunities and give students the exposure they need to go right into the workforce.”
Savannah Chatham County Public School System STEAM Thematic Specialist Dr. Miriam Bennett
“We’d like to continue to be focused on those educators that want to be a part of this, so that they can take the things that they learn during their shadowing and take it back to their classrooms. Eventually, we’d like to grow the program to have more involvement as the years go on.”
Candler County Industrial Authority President and CEO Hannah Mullins
