Initiatives
The seven initiatives, or working groups, are the result of a 2023 workforce study that identified them as key areas of focus for addressing workforce challenges and opportunities.
The RISE region is home to Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield and in close proximity to other military bases. More than 3,500 “Heroes for Hire” exit the military locally each year and the RISE military initiative focuses on keeping transitioning service members, veterans and spouses here.

RISE’s Underrepresented Working Group works hand in hand with organizations that serve individuals from underrepresented and often overlooked populations, including those who have been justice-impacted, unhoused or in recovery from addiction.
The RISE Housing Working Group is a collaborative effort that brings together housing professionals, experts and advocates from across the RISE region.

This group works to align K-12 educational systems with the evolving needs of the industrial workforce, ensuring students gain the awareness, skills and opportunities needed to pursue fulfilling careers in industry.
RISE’s transportation initiative focuses on addressing the transportation challenges that limit access to industrial employment opportunities across the region.

The childcare working group brings together a diverse coalition of childcare service providers, early childhood education experts, community advocates, elected officials, economic development professionals, industry representatives and other key stakeholders.
RISE’s marketing initiative leads several marketing campaigns including Succeed in Savannah, a regional initiative designed to attract those outside Georgia to the Savannah area.
