Initiatives
RISE’s Underrepresented Working Group works hand in hand with organizations that serve individuals from underrepresented and often overlooked populations, including those who have been justice-impacted, unhoused or in recovery from addiction. It also focuses on supporting differently abled individuals, senior citizens, military spouses and opportunity youth. Together with community partners, the group seeks to raise awareness and promote inclusive hiring practices among industrial employers—creating pathways to employment that recognize the value, skill and resilience of every individual.
Through collaboration and outreach, the group aims to expand the reach of Opportunity Youth pilot events across the RISE eight-county region, connecting young people with meaningful opportunities in growing industries. We are also partnering with nonprofit organizations to host forums, hiring events and informational sessions that highlight the potential of underrepresented talent. By linking employers to local resources, workforce partners and support services, the Underrepresented Working Group helps ensure that hiring and retention efforts are both inclusive and sustainable—building a stronger, more equitable regional workforce.
