Meet Tramaine
Tramaine Melvin works for JTEKT North America at the Sylvania plant. JTEKT North America is a subsidiary of JTEKT Corporation, formed in 2006 when Koyo Seiko, a world-class bearing manufacturer, merged with Toyoda Machine Works, a leader in machine tool technology. At the plant in Sylvania, they manufacture precision pins, rolls, shafts and bearings used in a variety of applications around the world.
He began his career as a material handler and later moved into a setter role in the Assembly area. After completing college, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in management. Jermaine worked hard and was promoted to team leader over multiple areas, eventually becoming a supervisor.
Today, he oversees about 225 associates and is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, reviewing budget plans, attending daily meetings and working directly with both customers and vendors. One of his top priorities is ensuring that every team member goes home in better condition than when they arrived.
Tramaine says, “What makes me unique is my passion for helping others realize their full potential. I encourage everyone to strive for greatness and never settle for less. I faced many challenges growing up and had to overcome doubt and a lack of support. But I’ve learned that what doesn’t kill you truly makes you stronger.”
